To learn more about the process of requesting access to the SCCS resource for data analyses or ancillary studies, or to submit an application, please click the button below to visit the SCCS Online Request System. You will be asked to create an account in the system if you do not already have one. Creation of an account secures the resource against repetitive automatic hacking attempts, ensuring maximum availability while removing communication barriers between SCCS staff and researchers. Once logged in to the system you will see a link to the “Guidelines for the use of SCCS resources” near the top of the main page as well as a link to a site tutorial and the “Codebooks and Documentation” page. These documents should provide the information you need if you’re considering requesting SCCS resources. If you have questions please click on the “Contact us” link at the bottom of this page.
Research opportunities within the SCCS cohort abound. The SCCS provides a unique resource for new investigations studying determinants of the higher rates and poorer outcomes not just of cancer but also of various other chronic diseases among African Americans, and for determining contributors to health disparities. SCCS data are available to qualified researchers for approved scientific uses.
